Elokuvan tapahtumien ympärille nivoutuva peli tarjoaa hersyvää huumoria, hauskaa toimintaa ja kauniita maisemia satumaisessa tarinassa leffasta tuttujen hahmojen ja paikkojen parissa. Pelattavana on kaikki suosikkihahmot kuten Shrek itse, aasi, Fiona sekä joukko uusia tuttavuuksia, joista jokaisella omat erikoiskykynsä ja -liikkeensä.
